Framework Attracts Top Digital Exec From Merriam-Webster as Company’s First Chief Growth Officer

Lisa Schneider, who reinvented the dictionary as a modern-day resource, is now charged with growth efforts for the social enterprise

BOSTON – January 12, 2021: Framework Homeownership, the organization dedicated to empowering smart and successful homeownership for first-time and first-generation homeowners, has hired Lisa Schneider as its first-ever Chief Growth Officer. Schneider will lead the revenue-generation process for the fast-growing social enterprise as it works to build strong communities through the democratization of homeownership.

Schneider joins Framework following a six-year career at Merriam-Webster, where as the top digital executive, she transformed the dictionary into a modern-day, multi-platform resource. The new executive hire signals the organization’s drive to capitalize on the current status of the homebuying market and housing industry. Record-low mortgage rates and an increased focus on the importance of home due to the ongoing pandemic have strengthened Framework’s commitment to ensuring homeownership education is accessible to everyone, leveling the playing field for first-time and first-generation homeowners.

With an incoming administration and a nationwide call for a prioritized fair housing agenda, Framework is keen on the topic of pushing racial wealth inequality to the forefront of the conversation. Schneider’s new role will ramp up the organization’s efforts in optimizing Framework’s social impact on the mortgage industry, as well as among vulnerable homeowners of color across the country.

“In this critical moment of transformation in our world, we are excited to have Lisa join the Framework team,” said Danielle Samalin, CEO of Framework Homeownership. “The blend of her deep, mission-driven mindset and unparalleled expertise in digital conversation is exactly what we need to propel the impact of our efforts in disrupting the traditionally complex and inequitable homeownership process.”

Prior to joining Framework, Schneider was Chief Digital Officer at Merriam-Webster, where she led digital strategy and product innovation. She spearheaded a digital transformation that redefined the dictionary, changing the public’s perception of the brand to a timely and relevant resource people turn to every day. Under her entrepreneurial leadership, Merriam-Webster expanded its audience, extended to new platforms and won numerous awards. Schneider also drove bold transformations in previous executive roles in digital strategy at Penton, Budget Travel, Reader’s Digest, and Bridal Guide. Schneider holds a bachelor’s degree in English and American Literature from Brandeis University.

“I am honored to join Framework and assume the new role of Chief Growth Officer,” Schneider shared. “Framework’s vision for growth and its commitment to social justice is incredibly inspiring, and it serves as a necessary stabilizing force in the market. I am excited and eager to join the leadership team and help pave the way toward long-term homeownership success for every American.”
