Our Call to Action

Confronting Racial Injustice

At Framework and Keep, it’s always been our mission to acknowledge and confront structural and persistent barriers of systemic racism that historically kept people of color from the benefits of homeownership.

We live our mission every day, but we have much more work to do. As we continue to actively examine how we as an organization can do our part to call out and correct systemic racial injustice, we will share our thoughts, plans, and actions here to keep the momentum toward effecting real, lasting change.

Please read on and join us in our commitment to listen, learn, and lead the housing industry forward in this movement.

Learning Learning

Learning

When it comes to breaking the patterns of systemic racism in our society, and in our housing industry, we know there is much work to be done. One way to start is by learning, together. The following is a list of resources hand-selected by the Framework and Keep employees, partners, and friends. It’s a starting point that we hope will offer insight, perspective, and an opportunity for all of us to reflect on why learning — and sometimes unlearning and learning anew — is so critical to our growth as a human race.

Leading Leading

Leading

Our mission is deeply rooted in creating equitable and inclusive products for sustainable homeownership, but our commitment to widening access and closing knowledge gaps begins within our own organization. Strengthening our commitment to racial equity and inclusion means taking the lead through this change in the decisions we make. We are taking reformative action in the following areas:

Staff education and training

We are exploring ways to build an actively anti-racist organization, including consideration of the language we use and unconscious bias.

Equitable research and design

We are revisiting our user research testing process and prioritizing inclusion and accessibility, such as removing barriers like preferred technology and access to resources.

Hiring and employee policies

We will continue to work diligently to ensure that we are including structures and policies for diversity and equity in our recruiting practices.

There is more to come. We are growing and moving forward every day and we ask that you check back often as we update this page with ongoing plans to keep up the momentum toward lasting change.

Listening Listening

Listening

Decades ago, protests of racial injustice occurred during a time when sharing information was confined to television, radio, written material or personal exchanges. Today, with social media, every voice has an amplifier. And it is our duty to listen, challenge what we think we know, and feel uncomfortable in the process. This is part of our growth.
